FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1. How does "delivered physical therapy and wellness" work?

I have all I need packed in my small sedan! This includes my portable massage table, small weights, massage tools, strength and range of motion tools, and more. I will drive to your home for your scheduled appointment. All I need is a little space to work with. Looking forward to showing you in person!

2. What is a "Discovery Call"?

A "Discovery Call" is a 30 minute virtual appointment where I will consult with you on your injury or needs. Whether you know exactly what you'd like to work on, if you have questions as to whether or not physical therapy is the appropriate treatment for your current situation, or if you want to know more about a specific pain you're having and want to get back to your normal, active lifestyle - this appointment is designed to be an affordable option with immediate answers or resources!

3. Can I have these services if I live anywhere in Santa Cruz County?

Yes! At the moment, I am the only physical therapist for Santa Cruz Mobile Physical Therapy but I want to be able to provide my services to the county I grew up in with no limitations. I chose to go mobile to allow people to stay home and avoid traffic or driving in pain. I may have some limited availability if you are > 30 minutes from Felton. I serve Boulder Creek, Ben Lomond, Felton, Bonny Doon, Scotts Valley, Santa Cruz, Capitola, Soquel, Aptos, and Watsonville.

4. Can I have these services if I live outside of Santa Cruz County?

Absolutely! However, anything outside of Santa Cruz County will have to be scheduled as a virtual appointment. I can still watch how you move and help guide you to become more efficient at achieving your activity potential via video calls. Traditional physical therapy services (Recovery and Performance Members) are limited to California due licensing laws and restrictions. Wellness (Wellness Members) and education (Discovery Calls) are available even outside of California.

5. Do you take health insurance?

Yes and no. Santa Cruz Mobile PT offers Self-Pay and Medicare insurance options. I am out of network with all insurances except for Medicare. I believe this setup is the best option for me to provide the highest quality of care to each individual. Self Pay and Medicare insurances require no referrals, allowing assessments and treatment to be made quicker. Most insurance-based clinics end up needing to push productivity versus quality, which leaves no room for proper Home Exercise Program updates, communication with patients outside of treatment time, and more. I do provide "Superbills" for you to submit to your insurance for out of network benefits if you wish. Please feel free to reach out with any questions!

6. Do you take HSA or FSA cards?

Yes! You are welcome to use your HSA or FSA card on all services.

7. Why would I pay out of pocket if I already pay for health insurance?

If you aren't used to paying for physical therapy services, this becomes a challenging question. Patient care quality can be limited in an insurance-centered clinic. Referrals or authorizations can lengthen the process of getting in to an appointment and can also limit the amount of time that a therapist is able to work with a patient regardless of your needs. Using a "Cash Pay" and Medicare model, I am able to provide 1 hour, 1-on-1 treatment times, as well as keep open communication with you whenever you need.
