Our Team

Dr. Matt Davis, PT, DPT

Founder & Doctor of Physical Therapy

"Movement isn't just about rehab; it’s about being able to show up for the people you love."

Matt’s journey into physical therapy began right here in Santa Cruz County. As a multi-sport athlete and collegiate football player, he was no stranger to the training room. However, it was a series of significant injuries and a complex ankle surgery that truly shaped his perspective. Experiencing the frustration of being sidelined gave Matt a firsthand understanding of the physical and mental toll of injury—and a clear vision of the kind of high-level, one-on-one care he wanted to provide others.

Matt earned his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Western University of Health Sciences, where he developed a strong foundation in manual-focused therapy. He further refined his diagnostic expertise under elite mentorship at Precision Physical Therapy, specializing in Movement System Impairments (MSI). This approach allows him to look beyond the "sore spot" and identify the mechanical root cause of dysfunction.

As a father of three young kids, Matt’s professional passion has become personal. He understands that for many of his clients, the "end goal" isn't just a PR in a race—it’s the ability to run, play, and stay active with their children for decades to come. He is dedicated to helping families in Santa Cruz build "injury-proof" lifestyles so they never have to miss a moment of the action.

Outside the Clinic: When he isn’t helping patients, Matt is a true Santa Cruz local. You can find him competing in the Santa Cruz Triathlon, hitting the links for a round of golf, or playing basketball. At home, he enjoys hiking the local trails and finding his "zen" while gardening in his backyard with his family.

Dr. Amy Davis, PT, DPT

Co-Owner & Pelvic Health Specialist

"Empowering patients to navigate their most personal health journeys with confidence and strength."

As a Co-Owner of Santa Cruz Mobile PT, Amy brings a specialized clinical lens to the team. Her journey into healthcare began at Towson University, where she earned her degree in Exercise Science, followed by her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Chapman University.

While Amy is an expert in general orthopedics, her true calling lies in Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy. She recognized a massive gap in care for women and men dealing with pelvic dysfunction, prenatal preparation, and postpartum recovery. Amy is dedicated to closing that gap, providing a supportive, evidence-based environment where patients feel heard and understood. Whether it’s helping a mother return to running or assisting a patient in regaining their quality of life, Amy’s approach is rooted in compassion and clinical excellence.

As a mother of three, Amy has a deep, personal understanding of the physical transitions the body undergoes during and after pregnancy. She is a firm believer that "common" symptoms (like pain or incontinence) should never be accepted as "normal." Her goal is to give her patients the tools and the confidence to stay active through every stage of life.

Outside the Clinic: A true sun-seeker, Amy is at her happiest when she is outdoors. She stays active chasing after her three children and enjoys exploring the beauty of the Central Coast with Matt and their family. Whether she’s at the beach or on a trail, Amy practices what she preaches: living a life defined by movement, not by limitations.

Dr. Rachel Rose-Murphy, PT, DPT, CSCS

Doctor of Physical Therapy & Certified Strength Specialist

"Movement is a form of self-expression. My goal is to make sure your body has the strength to say whatever it wants."

A Santa Cruz native with a lifelong passion for fitness, Dr. Rachel brings a unique "boots on the ground" perspective to the team. Before becoming a Physical Therapist, Rachel immersed herself in the world of high-level fitness as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and a competitive Women’s Bodybuilder.

Her transition from personal training to Physical Therapy was sparked by her own experience as a patient. After navigating several training injuries, she felt that the traditional PT model lacked the personalization and sport-specific intensity required for athletes to truly return to form. This frustration fueled her determination to create a better experience for others. Rachel graduated from the inaugural Doctor of Physical Therapy program at Hawaii Pacific University with a mission to bridge the gap between clinical rehab and elite performance.

Rachel specializes in weightlifting mechanics and is an expert at deconstructing complex lifts to find the "efficiency leaks" that cause pain. She believes that every patient—whether a competitive lifter or a weekend warrior—deserves a plan as unique as their own biomechanics. She doesn't just want to get you out of pain; she wants to empower you to move with more power and confidence than before your injury.

Outside the Clinic: Rachel lives the active lifestyle she promotes. When she isn't in the gym refining her own strength, she enjoys painting, playing games with friends, and spending quality time with her husband and their "furbabies."

Heather Boies, PTA

Physical Therapy Assistant & Orthopedic Recovery Specialist

"Successful recovery is a bridge between expert clinical care and the patient's daily life."

With 15 years of experience as a Physical Therapy Assistant in Utah, Heather brings a veteran’s touch to the Santa Cruz Mobile PT team. Having spent over a decade in high-volume orthopedic settings, she has developed a deep clinical specialty in post-operative rehabilitation. Heather is an expert at navigating the critical phases of recovery following shoulder, knee, and hip surgeries, ensuring her patients hit their milestones safely and efficiently.

Since relocating to Santa Cruz to be near family, Heather has combined her orthopedic mastery with a heart for Senior Health and Wellness. She understands that for many, a surgery or a fall can feel like a loss of independence. Heather works to reverse that narrative, utilizing her orthopedic background to lead specialized small-group balance classes and 1-on-1 personal training designed to "injury-proof" the aging process.

Whether she is helping a patient regain range of motion after a joint replacement or educating the community on fall prevention, Heather’s mission is clear: to provide the education and movement strategies that allow her clients to navigate their homes and the world with total confidence.

Outside the Clinic: Heather is an enthusiast of the California outdoors. You’ll often find her open-water swimming in the bay, trail running through the redwoods, or exploring the Central Coast. She believes that a body in motion stays in motion, and she lives that philosophy every single day.

Dan Melton, EP, CSCS

Exercise Physiologist & Strength Specialist

"The best rehab program is a smart training program. I’m here to bridge the gap between getting healthy and getting strong."

Dan brings a powerhouse of academic and athletic experience to Santa Cruz Mobile PT. As a dedicated Exercise Physiologist and Strength and Conditioning Specialist, Dan’s expertise lies in the science of human performance. He holds a degree in Kinesiology with a focus on Rehabilitation Science and is currently advancing his expertise by pursuing a Master’s in Kinesiology at San Jose State University, specializing in Exercise Physiology.

Dan’s career has been defined by his ability to bridge the gap between clinical rehabilitation and elite-level training. Having served as a Fitness Director, Personal Trainer, and Physical Therapist Aide, he understands how to navigate the "gray area" of recovery—taking clients from the final stages of physical therapy and safely transitioning them into high-performance strength and conditioning.

With triple-threat certifications from ACSM, NSCA, and NASM, Dan ensures that every movement is backed by data and safety. He specializes in creating personalized "Roadmaps to Success" for athletes and active adults who are ready to push their limits without re-injuring themselves.

Fun Fact: Semi-Pro Performance Dan doesn't just study performance; he’s lived it. He spent two years playing semi-professional football in the Midwest, an experience that instilled in him a deep appreciation for the teamwork and grit required to succeed at a high level.

Outside the Clinic: An outdoor enthusiast through and through, Dan stays active year-round—whether he’s running, hitting the basketball court, or snowboarding. When it’s time to slow down, he cherishes quality time at home playing games and making memories with his family.

Jon Schroeder

Certified Personal Trainer & Performance Specialist

"Strength is the ultimate insurance policy for your body."

Jon Schroeder is a cornerstone of the performance team at Santa Cruz Mobile PT. As a Certified Personal Trainer with deep roots in the Scotts Valley community, Jon specializes in helping clients transition from "rehab" to "ready for anything." Based out of The Movement Lab, he works in direct collaboration with our Doctors of Physical Therapy to ensure that every client’s strength program is a seamless continuation of their clinical recovery.

Jon’s coaching style is defined by technical precision. He doesn't believe in "one size fits all" workouts; instead, he focuses on individualized mechanics, identifying and fixing the "movement leaks" that often lead to recurring injuries. Whether you are an athlete looking to increase your power output on the Force Plates or a local professional looking to stay active and pain-free, Jon provides the expert coaching necessary to reach your peak.

By combining his years of experience at The Movement Lab with the Santa Cruz Mobile PT philosophy, Jon ensures that his clients aren't just getting a workout—they are receiving a movement education. He is dedicated to building resilient bodies that are capable of handling the demands of an active Santa Cruz lifestyle.

Outside the Gym: Jon is a firm believer in the lifestyle he promotes. A fixture in the local fitness scene, he stays active by exploring the Central Coast and constantly refining his own athletic pursuits. He brings that same energy and dedication to every client he coaches, helping them unlock their full physical potential.

Jake Medvidovich, CMT, NMT

"To change how a body moves, you have to address the conversation between the nervous system and the muscles."

Jake is an integral part of the recovery team at Santa Cruz Mobile PT, bringing a highly specialized clinical background to the table. As a Certified Neuromuscular Therapist (NMT), Jake goes far beyond traditional massage. He focuses on the complex relationship between the nervous system and the skeletal muscles, specializing in the treatment of trigger points, nerve compression, and postural imbalances.

Based out of The Movement Lab in Scotts Valley and available for Mobile Home Visits, Jake works in direct collaboration with our Doctors of Physical Therapy.
